Ethics, Accountability and Links

Our counsellors are BACP Accredited and abide by their professional standards.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is fundamental to our service.  In most instances information shared within sessions will remain confidential. However there might be some things that we cannot keep confidential either for legal or ethical reasons, e.g. when someone is at risk of serious harm. Exceptions to confidentiality will be clearly explained and discussed in the first counselling or supervision session.

Inclusivity

Both Sarah and Jane have many years of experience of work with people from a wide variety of genders, ethnic, cultural, religious backgrounds and sexual orientations. We welcome people of all cultures, genders, sexual orientation, religious or ethnic backgrounds to Edinburgh Counselling Partnership.

Accountability

Both Sarah and Jane are accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). We work within and are accountable to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice. A full description can be found a http://www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/ In line with BACP requirements we are professionally supervised. This helps to ensure that clients receive a professional and effective service.
